The importance of Personal SWOT Analysis in personality development

“My life is constantly under construction. There’s always something to improve.”

Self-evaluation plays a vital role in the overall development of one’s personality. It may be applicable at any stage of life. The way you use your skills and abilities to make achievements as much as you can possibly do while being aware of the elements hampering you to grow and develop, must be regarded as one of the best strategies, as it paves the ways to success.

It is very important to constantly have a balanced and honest view of your personality, so that the capabilities may be unleashed to the most desirable and favorable manner and the weaknesses be eliminated while the interactions with others be maintained convincingly, candidly and confidently. In doing so, you need to have a method that could help you out in knowing what your strength and weaknesses are; what opportunities are open to you and what threats your weakness exposes you. It would thus lead us to discuss SWOT analysis. SWOT is an effective method for the development of one’s personality and lifestyle. Hence if you want to learn how to plan and achieve your dreams, you need to apply personal swot analysis appropriately.

SWOT forms from the initials of strength, weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. These four elements of SWOT are very important in our life, as they are linked with our personality which encompasses all these four elements. As regards strength, you must observe what strength you possess in terms of your skills, education and experience etc. As to the weakness, you need to pay attention as to what it’s that hinders you from achieving your goals, such as, negative thinking, short temperament etc. Regarding opportunities, you need to see what you can do to your level best to make your own circumstances better. In this way, threats are nothing but shortcomings that intervene to stop or delay your progress towards your goals.

One must accept the fact that life does not remain same. A particular set of circumstances existing in a particular place or at a particular time may change any time. A pleasing situation may develop into unpleasant one. In short, vicissitudes or unexpected changes in fortune are a part of life that one has to deal with. In such times, the self-confidence could be a reason to win what is better for him or her and to come out of that particular situation. Hence, there is a need for having and building self-confidence. SWOT is a great way to build your self-confidence, develop your personality and positive behavior that in turn leads you to extract numerous benefits.

So, to conclude with the abiding importance of SWOT analysis, it may be rightly said that it’s an effective tool that helps individuals to improve the positive aspects of the personality and eradicate the shortcomings. It is thus advisable to make a list based on the aforementioned four elements of SWOT. In order that this methodology may work to its optimum level, 4A Model- which suggests, Aim, Assess, Activate and Apply, must be put into practice so that rich results may ultimately be reaped and the personality may be developed to the desired level.
