English Language learning is considered a worthwhile activity, while work-related learning in English must be regarded as more rewarding to justify the time taken or the efforts made due to the fact that it helps learners to gain various professional benefits. On the one hand it helps workers in understanding their duties, rights and obligations as employees; on the other hand, it aids them greatly in making progress in their careers. Regardless of positions in a business organization, being considered as one of the most vital soft skills of an employee, the ability to develop the ideas and visions and communicate better, is to be valued and appreciated at the workplace. In this way, it’s nothing more than working towards skills enhancement and professional development.
One can extract several benefits from effective work-related English language or business English learning process. One of the many benefits, which comes in importance first is that he is able to work independently dealing with the matters which are associated with one’s job related tasks.
Considering as to how business English or the job related English language is helpful for those who work in human resource department, it is important to note that there are various tasks that one needs to perform, some of the most important ones are: reading and writing professional memos, letters, receiving, replying and forwarding electronic mails, employee record keeping, maintaining up-to-date filing system and coordinating with various departments or divisions etc. Confining our discussion to one of the most important tasks, that is, computing the end of service benefits of the employees, it’s appropriate to mention that he needs to carry out these activities, like, following the policy guidelines in terms of employees’ service tenures, making follow ups with the issues in relation to the required activities. In doing so, the work-related communication skills play an important role to help him carry out the duties and responsibilities successfully. These duties and including others relating to human resource department can be done effectively if one improves his or her job related English language to the extent at which it is required.
As regards Accounting and Finance, there are several events for the employees working in Accounting or Finance departments in which they need to demonstrate their abilities while executing their functions effectively. Some of the crucial skills that they need to have or possessed: Interpersonal skills which require a great deal of coordination and cooperation, decision making, presentation skills, problem solving and delegating and listening skills etc. Besides, they need to follow the accounting and finance policies and procedures referring manuals relating to particular software modules, and of course making business correspondence effectively as and when needed. Hence, for all the related activities concerning accounting and finance, there is a great need to acquire effective communication skills which can be possibly done if the work-related English language skills are enhanced particularly.
Precisely speaking, whatever field a person belongs to, In order that all the related activities may be performed in a desired way, there is a great requirement of work-related language and its technicalities. One has a need to develop effective communication skills while following language rules and forms with particular terminologies. Therefore, considering the technical aspects of particular job activities and enhancing the abilities to communicate better in terms of work-related issues is of great importance, as it in turn enables one to successfully survive in an organization fulfilling the duties and responsibilities effectively and efficiently.
