An effective manager or a leader is a true exponent to organizational development. He directs his subordinates towards growth and development in terms of effectiveness and efficiency. He is a supporter of organizational competencies. . Since he knows best how to attain organizational development, he works in more constructive terms than others to lead his team members in the direction of attainment of the desired goals and objectives of a business organization.

A manager who is a leader of his team does not simply expect the results from his team members, rather, based on his expert and referent power, he is always willing to show the ways and means to attain the objectives and goals by guiding them properly and involving himself in doing things practically. This would lead to encourage the employees in presenting their ideas and suggestions in connection with bringing change and development in case there is a need.

An effective leader considering the need and importance of bringing better change in terms of performance as well as the behavior of the employees, suggests such schemes through which the employees are able to develop themselves successfully. It not only enables them to attain their personal objectives, such as, getting promotions and reasonable compensations, but also to contribute their efforts earnestly to the total organizational goals and objectives.

He is interested always to share various issues in relation to business performance and development with the employees. It is true that most of his time, he needs to spend in business meetings and various sort of negotiations in line with business, nevertheless, he makes himself available to help the employees discussing with them as and when needed, as to him, leading his team effectively is one the most important things to do.

Out of several leadership roles or styles, he preferably adopts participative leadership style and wants to make use of his referent power and reward power in order to benefit the employees and the whole organization. An effective leader, who is a manager of a business organization sets yardsticks to judge the performance of the employees and evaluates involving factors that can hinder the progress of both, employees as well as organization so as to work positively in the direction of success.

Effective leadership is always necessary in a business organization. In order to uplift the organization to its desired level, there is always a need of an effective leader who’s energetic, qualified, skilled,sensible and result-oriented. This way, an effective leader can not only improve organizational competence but also attain total organizational development successfully.
