“Most relationships fail because we spend too much time pointing out each others mistakes and not enough time enjoying each others company.”
Building social relationships and improving social skills is one of the most important things to do in this day and age. Especially in today’s life in which most of the people seem to be too busy with their own activities and in pursuit of their own objectives to spare a little time for others, such as, relatives, friends, neighbors and acquaintances. Thus, in this busy life, even if you spend a little time to share with the feelings, joys and sorrows of others while showing your feelings of affection and concerns, it will be an added value to your personality defining you to be a person of culture and a sociable person.
There is no magical formula for building social relationships and improving social skills. Developing social interaction skills depends on your positive and friendly attitude, as your friendly attitude helps you attract people towards you. However, here are some simple tips that might be helpful in strengthening your social interactions.
Most importantly, whenever you meet people, take a chance and be the first to greet others by spreading a pleasant smile with an uplifting spirit, as it can be a good cause to make a room for you in the hearts of the people whom you interact with. It will not only enable you build social relationships but also strengthening them.
It must be noted that though being polite or maintaining polite communication may be understood wrongly and confused with flittering, but it cannot be undervalued. It has its own value and importance in not only establishing relationships, but strengthening as well. So, one should be polite and courteous if one wants to maintain a long lasting relationship. It is worth mentioning here what has been pointed out by Teodoro A. Angoncillo, “ Nothing is lost to you by being polite. You can be polite and courteous without losing anything.”
While you are engaged in a conversation, maintain a smiling face, because keeping a smiling face always attracts positive responses from the people. Holding a pleasant smile as long as you can, can not only enable you to relieve your tensions, but also cause others to do so. It must be borne in mind that a natural smile can work magically in lessening sorrows of others. A hearty smile is a key to avoid confusions and to convince others while it helps in persuading others what you want to.
Your body posture language has a lot to do with building social relationships or improving social skills. In various social situations, you may forget to pay attention to your body posture language, whereas it is important to maintain it properly. Body language is a powerful communication tool that enables you to maintain your social interactions efficiently and effectively. Body postures can give clues to others about your attitudes and demeanor. It is therefore important to maintain correct body posture that should be natural, while avoiding the gestures that seem to be fake ones.
