Problem Solving Process in a Business Organization

There might be many a problem inherent in running a business. Every type of business at some time or another has some problems. Problems are inevitable in a business organization, but what is necessary is to apply effective problem solving strategies, so that the problem solving process may be effective and efficient. Here are some useful methods for effective problem solving process.

Business problem solving process involves the following methods.

Identifying or defining the problem
Finding ideas about how to solve specific problem
Proposing changes or making options
Implementing the solutions or proposed changes successfully

Identifying or defining the problem involves diagnosing business problem well. It’s a key challenge to management person. It is through the diagnosing process that it is ensured whether or not there exists a problem. It must be noted that in order to solve an existing problem, its root cause must be identified first, so that effective and creative ideas may be generated accordingly.

Finding or generating ideas in relation to the existing problems involves discussing issues, meetings, taking suggestions or seeking advice from the concerned staff etc. Since there is always need for having creative ideas and the ideas gathered from other concerned people, it is better to generate lots of ideas, so that the problem solving process may be smooth.

After having generated lots of ideas, the step that comes next in importance is proposing changes or considering various options. The ideas that have been gathered must be evaluated well before implementing any change. This necessitates choosing the best suited option to be applied to problem solving process. It is also to be ensured whether the problem is being solved in a ways as desired.

Finally, it is essential to implement the changes as has been proposed. Since this way you are going to make changes happen, it is important to assess the whole process to make certain the suited option or proposed changes are being implemented effectively and efficiently.

It is to be noted that there may be a wide range of problems in business. They may be related to people, process, system or structure. The responsibility of management entails taking action and making decisions that are important to problem solving process. The process needs to be carried out in such a way, as to benefit the organization and to offer support to people so that the overall activities may be performed smoothly. Thus effective decision making and problem solving strategies will always be helpful to management to lead a business to the desired success.
